Soundcloud player for Coursework and Personal work created on various DAWS

Arrangement window for Ableton. Whilst all Digital Audio Workstations allow the user to record, edit and manipulate sound, each has their own workflow and technical aspect to learn. Being able to work cross platform is a skill in itself, a useful tool for sound design. I prefer to work in Ableton although each platform is useful and presents a steep learning curve.

Project created for Remixing class. Learning to use Logic and its audio processing capabilities. The project was exported using Apple Standard audio codecs and processing.
Digital Audio Workstations Semester 1
Semester 1 was an introduction to ProTools and the task to create a piece of sound work to show my rudimentary but necessary skills in this module. Below is the arrangement window of ProTools and the piece I created.

Audio for Multimedia
A complex module that centred on sound for a film. A short film was presented to me with no sound. It was my task to gather sounds to put to the film. First phase is known in the industry as preproduction. I had to produce a spot sheet, cues for the sounds in the film as according to timecode. This would be helpful as a guide to the gathering of sounds and where to place them in the films timeline.
Next is the production phase. This is where the work happens and the creation of sounds. I referred back to the spot sheet whilst I was creating and sourcing my sounds. Once I had these sounds to work with, I created markers in ProTools to guide me in the correct placement of the sounds. Whilst the film follows a linear timeline, start to finish, I found that the process of scoring the film is dynamic, in that it changes and develops as new ideas grow. I am interested in creative processes and don't like to stick to rigid structures.

Recording Foley
Location recording can yield noisy and chaotic results, sometimes that is the intent. For a more controlled recording, Foley is best recorded in a studio environment where the sound designer can capture the source with clarity.

Sounds recorded and edited. Exported to arrange in ProTools
Employment Prospects
I have stated in my planning for the unit that I would aim to work towards a broadcast engineer role. With my skills over cross platforms and my creative approach to sound design and foley capture, the market for employment is vast. There are many roles in the UK and Europe that I could be invested in. Foley artist, which has a similar role towards game audio, could be a potential role that would allow my creativity to flourish. However, during the graded unit development, I have found myself drawn closer to game audio sound design.
